Whether you’re in a romantic relationship, a friendship, or even a business partnership, it’s easy to fall into autopilot mode and avoid asking the hard questions that contribute to healthy relationships.

But here’s the truth: every relationship needs regular check-ins. Just like businesses do audits to make sure they’re running smoothly, your relationships deserve the same level of attention.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about a relationship in your life, take a moment to pause and reflect. Here are five powerful questions to help you decide if it’s time to strengthen the bond—or walk away.

1. Does This Relationship Bring Me More Joy or Stress?

Every relationship has ups and downs, but the overall balance matters. If you’re constantly walking on eggshells, feeling drained, or dreading interactions, that’s a sign something needs to change.

💡 Reflection Exercise:

  • When you think about this person, do you feel happy and supported or anxious and burdened?
  • Do your best moments together outweigh the difficult ones?
  • If a friend described this relationship as their own, what advice would you give them?

A strong, healthy relationship should add to your life, not deplete it.

2. Can I Be My Authentic Self in This Relationship?

The best relationships allow you to show up as you are—flaws and all. If you find yourself hiding parts of yourself, filtering your words, or suppressing your needs to keep the peace, that’s a red flag.

  • Do I feel safe expressing my feelings, thoughts, and boundaries?
